WEBINAR: Benchmarking the latest annotation pipelines on Australian reference genomes

Genome annotation adds functional information to genome assembly data for applied use. There are thousands of sequenced genomes yet to be annotated, and many annotation pipelines currently in active development, but producing and assessing annotations at scale is still complicated and poorly standardised.

To address this challenge, the global biodiversity community, including Australian BioCommons ‘Australian Tree of Life’ Bioinformatics Group, want to automate and speed up the assembly and annotation of genomes to empower non-bioinformaticians to also undertake this work.

Jane Tung, University of Queensland PhD student, tested all the latest options on a range of genomes to identify scalable approaches for Australian reference genomes in an industry placement hosted by the Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF) in conjunction with Australian BioCommons. Join us to explore our benchmarking findings and learn how these insights can streamline your own genome assembly and annotation workflows.

Jane Tung, PhD Candidate, The University of Queensland and Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF)

Dr Thomas Harrop, Senior Bioinformatician, Australian BioCommons
