Description:
Finding data for childhood cancer research has often meant applying for access before knowing whether the data could answer a researcher’s question, then waiting weeks or even months to find out. For cancers this rare, every dataset counts, and every delay holds back research that could help children with cancer.
Insights, a new platform developed by Children’s Cancer Institute through GUARDIANS, lets researchers see what data exists before they request it. It brings together clinical and molecular data from the ZERO Childhood Cancer Program, covering over 3,500 participants (many with high-risk or rare cancers, profiled through whole genome and RNA sequencing), more than 15,000 samples and over 200 patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models. Researchers can explore the data, build cohorts and check whether it fits their question. They can then request access through a governed process that is transparent at every step.
Kamile Taouk and Dr Marie Wong-Erasmus will join Australian BioCommons to introduce Insights.
Join them to learn about:
Accessing Insights: how to log in, and what’s available to everyone at summary level
Discovering and exploring ZERO data: searching by diagnosis, gene, variant or study, and seeing at a glance what’s been sequenced, published or embargoed
Building cohort queries: stacking filters across clinical, sample and molecular data, with live counts, and saving and sharing queries
Requesting data access: turning a query into an access request and following it from review through to delivery
Speakers:
Kamile Taouk, Technical Lead, Computational Biology, Children’s Cancer Institute
Marie Wong-Erasmus, Principal Bioinformatics Engineer & Data Platform, Computational Biology, Children’s Cancer Institute
