Dr Gareth Price

Gareth leads the Galaxy Australia service, providing strategic direction and advocating for researchers' needs since 2018. He is passionate about ensuring the platform benefits users, which he ensures through his key role in collaborating with the global Galaxy Project to direct code development.With a PhD in site-directed mutagenesis and protein function, Gareth brings broad experience in bioinformatics and genomics, spanning technologies from early printed microarrays and GeneChips to modern Next Generation Sequencing platforms. His research has covered a variety of organisms, including microorganisms, fruit flies, mice, and non-model species with limited genomic data. Outside of work, Gareth values spending time with his family, enjoying a wide array of science fiction books/movies, and tinkering with model trains.
