Dr Georgie Samaha
Georgie is the Bioinformatics Group Lead at the Sydney Informatics Hub (a core research facility at the University of Sydney) and Product Owner for the Australian BioCommons BioCLI Platforms Project. She brings extensive bioinformatics experience including a PhD in mammalian genomics, and over four years developing scalable and collaborative data analysis and sharing solutions. Georgie has worked across research fields such as cancer genomics, rare heritable diseases, biosurveillance, and conservation.
Georgie is passionate about making bioinformatics accessible to researchers, whether it’s through developing and delivering training materials, or ensuring her work is open source and FAIR. She holds a voluntary position as a Nextflow Ambassador, where she bridges the gap between researchers and technical experts using Nextflow for computational workflows.
Georgie’s position is co-funded by Bioplatforms Australia and The University of Sydney, and is hosted by The University of Sydney.
