Australian AlphaFold Service

AlphaFold is an artificial intelligence (AI) system developed by DeepMind that predicts a protein’s 3D structure from its amino acid sequence. It regularly achieves accuracy that is competitive with experimental methods (see Jumper et al. Nature 2021).

AlphaFold 2 is now available for use via the Galaxy Australia platform which provides access to the GPU clusters required to power the application.

The Australian BioCommons and our delivery partners at QCIF and The University of Melbourne provide an Australian AlphaFold Service where you can upload your amino acid sequence, and all the set-up and provisioning of underlying GPU infrastructure are taken care of, so you and your team can focus on generating the protein 3D structure itself.

The Australian AlphaFold Service is:

The Australian AlphaFold Service is part of Galaxy Australia which is managed by QCIF, The University of Melbourne and AARNet.
The AlphaFold Service is specifically underpinned by scalable computational resources procured from Microsoft Azure.
This service is supported by funding from the Queensland Government’s Research Infrastructure Co-investment Fund (RICF), Bioplatforms Australia (BPA) and Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). BPA and ARDC are enabled by NCRIS.
