Dr Farah Zaib Khan

Farah joined BioCommons in early 2022 with a background in computational bioinformatics, genomic data analysis, and bioinformatics workflows, including a PhD (University of Melbourne, 2019). Farah is passionate about open science and ensuring that her work follows the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable). She enjoys designing interactive and collaborative engagement activities using state of the art technology, particularly when this allows her to learn new tools or techniques.

In her role, Farah analyses the existing requirements for digital infrastructure among life sciences researchers in coordination with the Community Engagement team, then prepares business cases outlining the need and value return of any potential new BioCommons service. Once established, Farah continues to liaise with all parties involved in BioCommons services to review each solution and capture additional community requirements that arise.

Outside of work, Farah frequently finds herself exploring new landscapes with her nature-loving son. When she’s not out and about, Farah can be found at home reading a book with a cup of perfectly infused tea!

Farah's position is funded by Bioplatforms Australia and hosted by the University of Melbourne.
