Preparing for the change

To ensure a smooth transition to the new BioCommons Access ecosystem, please note the following key dates and actions:

  • Check your email: You will receive a notification [number] days prior to the launch with final reminders.

  • Shutdown period: To finalise the transition in the systems, both Galaxy Australia and the Bioplatforms Data Portal will be unavailable from [time] on [date] March 2026 until [time] on [date] March 2026.

  • Go live: BioCommons Access will officially be available from [time] on 25 March 2026.

How to log in for the first time

From 25 March 2026, existing users can log in via the Galaxy Australia website, the Bioplatforms Data Portal, or the new BioCommons Access login page.

  1. Enter your credentials

  • Galaxy Australia users: Enter your current Galaxy Australia username (or email) and password

  • Bioplatforms Data Portal users: Enter your current Bioplatforms Data Portal username (or email) and password

  • Users with both accounts: Use your Galaxy Australia username (or email) and password to merge your accounts.

  1. Verify your account

    • Once you have entered your details, the system will automatically send a password reset link to your email address

    • Click the link in the email to change your password according to the requirements, which will verify your account.

  2. Access the service

    • Once confirmed, you will automatically be redirected to the service you were originally trying to access (i.e. Galaxy Australia or the Bioplatforms Data Portal)

    • If you logged in directly via the BioCommons Access login page, you will be taken to the BioCommons Access portal.

Future logins

For all subsequent visits to any connected service, simply use your username (or email address) combined with your new BioCommons Access password.
